First off, before I say anything else, there is a very important point I must make before I continue with this blog. The very reason Vy and I were at this fancy lounge in Huntington Beach was to try their Kobe Beef Sliders; neither of us have ever had kobe beef anything before and we were highly excited to try it. Since we are both suckers for good burgers, how could we pass up kobe beef sliders?

The Red Chair Lounge was one of the participants of “Orange County Happy Hour Week”. During this week many fancier restaurants of Orange County offer discounts on drinks, snacks, and some even have full meals for a good price. Of course we scoped out the menus and picked out our favorites and we were ready to go. After attending the Pet Expo in Costa Mesa, which I highly recommend going by the way, Vy and I were hungry. We already had our list of top picks, ranked of course ;p, and with the help of a navigation system we headed towards our first pick, Savannah at the Beach for their $10 filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes dinner option. However, when we pulled up to the restaurant, we were informed that the wait was an hour and a half. This just wouldn’t do for our hungry stomachs, luckily we had a backup plan. Skimming our list real quick, we found that Red Chair Lounge was on the same street as Savannah and off we went.

While Savannah’s business was through the roof, we arrived to find Red Chair Lounge quite empty with the exception of a few hotel guests. After sitting down and looking through the menu, we were ready to order after about 2 minutes. Along with an order of kobe beef sliders, we also decided to order a 5-artisan cheese sampling.

After waiting a good while, our first order finally arrived on a pretty platter. The plate came with 5-artisan cheeses paired with some fruit and crackers. DO NOT be fooled by the fancy decor and the pretty arrangement of their edibles. Let me put it this way, this first bite of cheese that entered our mouths sent a tremble down our spines, and I’m not talking about an oh-my-god-that-was-amazing kind of shiver. Needless to say, we didn’t finish much of that plate. Okay, fine, so we didn’t like the first order but we were willing to give this place another chance. Still, we waited eagerly for the anticipated kobe beef sliders. We waited and waited..and waited. Our order never came and unfortunately our metered parking time was running out. Finally we decided to wave the waitress down to cancel the order. For some ODD reason even though the place was far from busy and we were in plain view of the waitress, it still took a long while for the waitress to attend to us. The last draw was when we noticed that we were still charged for the kobe beef sliders even though they never arrived. Bad service, less than mediocre food, and fail to get a taste of what we really came for left us finishing the day quite anticlimactically. Needless to say, we will not be back.

One Response to “Red Chair Lounge”

  1. Yikes. I hate when restaurants that are empty take forever! How was the pricing for this place? Judging for the decor in your photos it looks a little fancy, but like it hasn’t been updated for awhile.
