The Living Room Cafe: Now Big Word Cafe

: Edit: This place is no longer called The Living Room Cafe. They did a re-grand opening under the name Big Word Cafe. Everything is still the same.

My blogging partner has been bugging me about lagging on posts so finally here’s a new one :). I noticed that all the restaurants we’ve blogged about so far are from the southern california vicinity even though one of us here is actually not from the area. The Living Room Cafe was a random place I looked up during spring break because I was trying to get my friends into trying new restaurants. It was close by, had free wifi, and the yelp reviews didn’t seem too bad (even though there weren’t that many to begin with, but that’s besides the point). For people who are into comfy places to chitchat with a couple friends and not have to constantly yell over the loudness at places like starbucks, then The Living Room Cafe is definitely worth checking out.

As its name implies, this place literally does have the homey feel of somebody’s living room. The walls are all painted different colors and there is quite a selection of chairs and sofas to claim as a favorite. One of the best things about this place is the service. After ordering at the counter and sitting down, my friends and I didn’t have to wait long before the owner herself (who happened to be sitting at the table next to us, using her laptop) served us our plates of food. My turkey, bacon, avocado panini definitely wasn’t as embellished as the sandwiches at Panera, but it was still pretty good. Every sandwich order comes with a side pasta, which turned out to be a good compliment to the savory sandwiches. Overall this cozy little cafe deserves more recognition for its free wifi, comfy decor, good prices (slightly cheaper than Panera), and excellent service. Again, if you just want a quick bite to eat in a place that isn’t too hectic then give The Living Room Cafe a try.
