Chinjin Eastern House Restaurant: Can You Say Take-out Prices at a Sit-Down Place?

Sorry we haven’t posted for awhile guys! I’ve been preoccupied with studying for this test and Vy has been looking for more places to try. Here’s our newest update. So, I tried this restaurant out a few weeks back with some friends for a quick lunch. If you weren’t looking for it, you’d definitely never notice this place. It’s in a small plaza on a small side road. Easily, it is shadowed by the plaza next door, which houses a SOGO bakery, a chinese takeout, and a small restaurant. I can’t say that this place is really authentically chinese, but then again we ordered broccoli beef, green onion pancake, and fried noodles, so I didn’t get to chance to sample a dish that might have been more authentic.

Of the three dishes we ordered, my favorite was the broccoli beef. For a dish that was only $4.65 (as were all the other lunch special entrees), this would be one of the dishes worth getting. However, the other two dishes we got seemed a bit bland to me. The noodles were lacking in flavor and were swimming in oil.

The green onion pancake was not what I expected. I love the green onion pancakes that are thinner and kind of crispy. The ones here were really thick (as you can see above). The thickness of those sesame breads, if you know what I’m talking about, is a reason I don’t like them. It’s too much work to chew haha. It was the same thing with the green onion pancakes here. If you like green onion pancake there’s a lot of other places close to the area that make it a lot more edible. Still, if you’re just craving broccoli beef, $5 for the dish is not too shabby at all.
