Barlean’s Flax Oil: Everyone Wants A Good Heart


Omega 3 fatty acids?  What’s not to like?  I always supplement my diet with a tablespoon a day with flax seed oil.  The health benefits are numerous, to increased health to neuronal brain cells, protection from coronary artery disease, and overall general physical well being.

For those of you on ultra low-fat diets, it’s not necessarily a good thing.  Your brain is composed mainly of fat, therefore, you need to eat healthy oils to nourish your brain properly, as well as the rest of your body.  There has been numerous studies that have shown a significant decrease in coronary artery disease in people who supplement their diet with omega-3’s, which can either come from fish oil or flax seed oil.  I recommend taking flax oil, the taste is more pleasant.

Of course with anything in this world, don’t go crazy with this either, a tablespoon is about 14 grams of fat.  The daily “recommended” (the reason why it’s in quotation marks is because there are no daily recommended allowances for macronutrients) is about 1.6g/day for men and 1.1g/day for women.  “Bee healthy, bee happy!”
