Sushi On Fire: No Kidding, This Place Truly Is HOT STUFF!

If you have yet to eat here in Huntington Beach, well…you HAVE to make the trip out. If you like imaginative rolls that offer up a lot of flavor for a decent price, I highly recommend this place.

We came to order rolls off the Sushi on Fire “Special Rolls” menu because, well…they looked the most appetizing! First off, let’s talk about the White Roll. This is their best seller and for good reason. It is a full battered tempura roll that has lobster, shrimp, and avocado inside. On the outside is their sweet eel sauce and you get the liberty of putting on your own spicy tuna. This roll is good. I tend to not like  tempura battered rolls, but this roll wasn’t too heavy. It was light and full of flavor. The avocado was fresh and the spicy tuna was full of fresh fish flavor. This is a MUST try.

Next, we had the Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roll, which is very similar to the Halloween roll we ordered as well. The Mr. and Mrs. Lee is spicy tuna with cucumber on the inside with fresh tuna and avocado on the outside. The Halloween Roll was shrimp tempura and crab salad on the inside, eel sauce, tuna, avocado, spicy crab mix, and eel sauce on the outside. Both rolls have that light refreshing sushi taste to them. When you take a bite, you get the taste of that fresh tuna immediately, followed by the warm tempura battered shrimp and avocado. Both rolls taste very similar, but I highly recommend the Halloween Roll for the shrimp tempura.

The other two rolls we had were the Deluxe crunch roll  (shrimp tempura, crab salad, tempura flakes) and the Las Vegas roll (cream cheese, tuna, salmon, yellow tail, avocado, eel sauce). Out of the two, I actually prefer the Deluxe Crunch Roll more. Very light and very crunchy, unlike most places. Another highly recommended Roll. The Las Vegas was great, but to be honest, given the high quality and great flavor of the other rolls, I’d skip the Las Vegas since it is a little dull on flavors.

The Last Roll we ate was the Main St. Roll, which was fantastic. Mango, eel, shrimp tempura, jalapeno, masago, and eel sauce. Wow,  never thought mango could taste so good with sushi! If you are afraid of fruit on sushi, don’t be, this will surprise you in a very good way. The Mango is a good compliment to the sweet eel sauce and the rest of the roll. Definitely give this one a try

I really highly recommend Sushi On Fire for the simple fact that the rolls are very well made and presented. Each piece is very light and full of flavor. This place gives you room to try a lot of different things, and that is definitely a bonus here considering how good the rolls are. Don’t hesitate to give this place a try next time you are on PCH.
